The Pitch That Changed the Trajectory of The Flower Loop

A month ago, I pitched for funding that changed the trajectory of The Flower Loop.

After completing a two-day enterprise course through The King's Trust, I applied for their He Kākano funding. A few days later I got a call inviting me to pitch in front of a panel in Auckland. I had just a week to prepare.

I was excited, and then almost immediately nervous. I'd never pitched in front of anyone before. The day arrived and my stomach was in knots. I kept trying to tell myself it was just an opportunity to share my mission but nothing was really putting me at ease until I walked into the room.

I was greeted by a group of friendly faces sitting around a round table and just like that, I relaxed.

I shared the story of The Flower Loop, where it started, why it matters, and where it's going. I could see it resonating. I loved their questions. I loved watching them get genuinely curious about what we're building. Whatever the outcome, I left that room feeling proud.

An hour later, my phone rang. I'd been successful. Honestly, it brought me to tears.

This funding means we can now buy a baler, a piece of machinery that will let us process more plastic, grow faster and increase our impact in a way that could have taken years otherwise. We're now ready to expand across New Zealand, keeping more plastic out of landfill and changing an entire industry's waste footprint.

Thank you to The King's Trust and Pathfinder Asset Management for the belief you've shown in me and in the impact The Flower Loop will have.
